A two day road trip with an 11 month old would have previously sounded like a nightmare. Having gone through it now, I can tell you it was the easiest thing ever. Either our baby was made to go on adventures with us, or they’re all this easy going
Landon’s been doing big things the past few weeks, and one of the things that came together was getting passes to the OR Winter Show in Salt Lake City. With a paid holiday, a furlough, and a few vacation days put to good use, we packed up the car and headed east
We stopped in Reno to play and shop around a bit and make the drive more of a vacation in of itself. We made acorn squash, sandwiches and healthier snacks to eat on the way, then grabbed Subway for dinner. We stayed the night in Elko, found a church to attend in the morning, then got back in the car Utah bound
We made it into Park City by late afternoon, and played around a bit looking for Sundance while Kyle and Heather caught up to us. I quickly checked twitter to see which big names were there for the week. Before we had time to spot Lil Jon, we drove up together to visit our grandparents in Wyoming.
My heart was so exited to see them. It was Paityn’s first time meeting them, and I hadn’t seen Grandma + Pop in almost 3 years, since we went camping with them right after we got married. Much too long! It was also our first time seeing little Riddick, and oh man he’s a cutie. His eyebrows are so expressive, and his face is so sweet. Paityn’s turned into quite the hugger when she feels like it. She kept laying her big ol head on his belly, saying “awwhhh,” for us. Her little cousin put up with it like a champ
By mid afternoon, with a warm lunch in our bellies, the 4 of us said our goodbyes and headed back down to SLC to play.
With Blue Lemon sugar cookies in hand, we left City Creek mall that evening to head down to Josh + Crystal’s to stay the night. It felt so good to be back in downtown Salt Lake City, doing the things with the people we love!
