the North Pole + Murphy Dome | Alaska

Drizzling morning; Perfect conditions for a mini road trip with the family to North Pole. Fun fact: it’s south of Fairbanks.

Despite the close proximity to Fairbanks, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’d been to North Pole. Once after graduating I tagged the high school there with friends. And the other 3 times probably were to visit the Santa Clause House. Like the name sounds, is Christmas year round. You can find reindeer outdoors + ornaments galore indoors. I bypassed all of that and went straight for the fudge. Because, yum.

Later that afternoon we went out with Matti + Tyler to play outside and explore a bit. We hiked around Murphy Dome, which had an amazing view, but by the time we turned around at early evening the mosquitoes were out of control. I would like to call that hike “When mosquitoes attack.” I just can’t even begin to paint the picture for you of us rushing back, hoods up, trying to save Paityn with just swarms and swarms surrounding us. It was bad. but beautiful! but bad.

Today was such a fun day. It felt so good to be showing Landon around even more spending time with my parents + sisters, and spending time with Matti.
