LSAT & Law School Applications

This Saturday our fate will be sealed.
Ok well maybe that’s a wee bit dramatic, but Landon takes the LSAT on Saturday which will be the largest deciding factor for a school on whether they take him or not
oh boy.
I love making lists, all sorts of lists, so here the official list as of today for schools that we’re considering
1a. University of Utah [Salt Lake City, UT] American Bar Association, ABA in 1927, #47
Utah has the 3rd lowest faculty to student ratio at 8.1:1, behind only Yale and Stanford
Several students have been chosen for prestigious internships and clerkships, including 4 graduates who have served as clerks to Supreme Court Justices.
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 156-163, and GPA was 3.41-3.76
The overall bar passage rate is 85.5%
1b. University of Oregon [Eugene, OR] ABA in 1923, #82
Known for being the nation’s first public law school to establish an environmental law program- ranked 6th in the country
Their Appropriate Dispute Resolution Center (ADR) program, also ranked 6th in the country
and Legal Research and Writing (LRW) Program, ranked 5th in the nation
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 157-160, and GPA was 3.17-3.6 
The overall bar passage rate is 80.4%
1c. University of Denver [Denver, CO] ABA in 1923, #69 
Ranked as a top law school for public interest law by the National Jurist– currently ranked 40
Particularly well known for its outstanding programs in trial advocacy
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 155-161, and GPA was 3.17-3.64
The overall bar passage rate is 91%

 National Jurist ranked 3rd for Best School For State & Local ClerkshipsThe 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 153-160, and GPA was 3.11-3.55 
The overall bar passage rate is 75.4%
2b. Gonzaga Univeristy [Spokane, WA] ABA in 1951,# >100
 Stands at a crossroad in which it could again fall into the mix of tier three schools
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 153-157, and GPA was  3.15-3.51
The overall bar passage rate is 79.9%

 2c. University of Maine [Portland, ME] ABA in 1962, # >100
Portland Maine was recently named the number one most livable city in America by Forbes.com
 Sky-high quality of life in the city of Portland
Students rave about the low cost of tuition, and even if you don’t make $160,000 a year after graduation, you will be able to pay off your student debt in a reasonable amount of time.
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 153-158, and GPA was 3.16-3.57
The overall bar passage rate is 92.2%
2d. University of Montana [Missoula, MT] ABA in 1923
Among the smallest in the country, limiting each incoming class to a maximum of 84 students
For prospective students not from the area, a visit to Missoula is essential
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 152-157, and GPA was 3.23-3.62
The overall bar passage rate is  94.9%

3a. New York Law School PT [Lower Manhattan, NYC] ABA in 1954, #135
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 151-156, and GPA was 2.98-3.44
Taxation program was ranked #3 in the nation by The National Law Journal in 2012, after NYU and Georgetown
2012 U.S. News & World Report included New York Law School in its list of “10 Law Schools That Lead to the Most Debt.”
The overall bar passage rate is 90%
3b. Regent University [Virginia Beach, VA] ABA in 1989,
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 150-158, and GPA was 2.96-3.6
Its mission is to provide an excellent legal education from a Christian perspective
The overall bar passage rate is 79.6%, The Virginia state average for all first-timer takers was 79.1%. 
3c. California Western School of Law [San Diego, CA] ABA in 1962
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 150-156, and GPA was 2.93-3.5
The overall bar passage rate is 78%
California Western’s 1L grading and academic policies make it a risky investment for candidates who are not absolutely confident in their ability to do well or who would have trouble paying back a year’s worth of loans if they did not make it back for a second year

  
3d. University of Idaho [Moscow, ID] Tier 3, ABA in 1925
Tuition for in-state residents is reasonable, at $12,490,  low cost of living, budget $30,000 per year
In 2009, National Jurist picked as one of the country’s top-10 “Best Value Law Schools” based on its tuition, bar passage rate, and placement statistics
Specialties in Environmental Law, Business Law, Advocacy and Dispute Resolution
Ranked in the top 30 in the nation as a “great university to hit the books and backcountry” by Outside magazine
Just minutes from opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, whitewater rafting, biking, climbing, and camping
The 25th-75th percentile LSAT range was 149-157, and GPA was 2.87-3.57
The overall bar passage rate is 87.5%, versus 85% statewide
